How The Pianoman collects, uses and protects your personal information.
Who we are
The Pianoman (“we”, “us”) is a piano and accessories business based in Pretoria, South Africa. We are the responsible party for the personal information described below. Questions about this notice can be sent to office@thepianoman.co.za.
What we collect
- Contact details - your name, email address and phone number.
- Order information - items purchased, delivery address, invoices and payment status.
- Account & consent - your login, marketing preferences, and which version of this notice you agreed to.
Why we use it (and our lawful basis)
We process your information to run the parts of the business you ask us to:
- Fulfilling your order - preparing, invoicing and delivering what you buy. This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
- Keeping you informed - order confirmations, payment receipts and delivery updates.
- Marketing - only where you have given separate, optional consent (see below). You can withdraw it at any time.
Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers (operators) to deliver the service. They only receive what they need, and only to act on our instructions:
- Xero - invoicing and accounting.
- PayFast - secure card and EFT payment processing.
- The Courier Guy - parcel delivery.
- WhatsApp (Meta) - order and delivery messages.
- Resend - order, enquiry and marketing email.
We never sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet legal and tax obligations.
Your rights
Under POPIA you can access, correct or delete your personal information, and object to certain processing. If you have an account you can do most of this yourself from your account page - view your data, update your marketing preferences, or delete your account. For anything else, contact us and we'll help.
Marketing & consent
Essential messages (invoices, payment and delivery updates) are part of fulfilling your order. Marketing messages are optional and only sent with your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time from your account page or by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
Security
Payments are handled by PayFast and card details are never stored by us. Access to customer data is restricted to authorised staff, and our systems use industry-standard protections.
